The Moore & Wright MWT-7800 Refractometer is a handheld instrument designed to measure the concentration of machine tool coolant and cutting fluids. Regular concentration checks help maintain the correct dilution level for effective lubrication, corrosion protection and dependable machining performance.
The refractometer uses the refractive index of the fluid to direct light onto a graduated scale visible through the eyepiece. This provides fast concentration readings across a range of 0–20 °Bx, with a resolution of 0.1 °Bx.
Automatic temperature compensation helps provide consistent readings under changing workshop conditions, while the adjustable focus allows the scale to be viewed clearly. Calibration is straightforward using pure water, making the MWT-7800 suitable for routine coolant maintenance in workshops and manufacturing environments.
Regular coolant monitoring can help improve machining quality, extend cutting-tool life and reduce fluid waste, maintenance requirements and operating costs.
